Pro Danube was honoured to be invited to the recent
EU Strategy for the Danube Region PA1a Steering Group Meeting, where we received the latest updates from the PA1a Secretariat and the Member States. This meeting highlighted the ongoing efforts and commitments necessary to enhance the navigability and economic viability of the IWT sector.
Given the crucial importance of adequate fairway maintenance, securing sufficient dredging works isn't just a matter of improving the waterway but ensuring the very economic viability of the sector. Pro Danube highlighted that well-maintained waterways are the backbone of the IWT sector, facilitating the seamless and efficient movement of goods. Therefore, we offered our support in communicating the updates from the fairway managers to the IWT sector.
Pro Danube was thrilled to have participated in the vibrant discussions at the 6th
edition of the Danube Business Talks 2024, organised by
viadonau in Vienna. From addressing the urgency of greening initiatives to tackling infrastructure challenges and the pressing staff shortage, the event set the scene to brainstorm viable long-term solutions. We were delighted that several of our projects aimed at supporting IWT's pathway towards climate neutrality were presented and discussed.
It was an excellent opportunity to connect with decision-makers, industry experts, and stakeholders, fostering valuable dialogues and networks.
