Pro Danube was honoured to be invited to the recent EU Strategy for the Danube Region PA1a Steering Group Meeting, where we received the latest updates from the PA1a Secretariat and the Member States. This meeting highlighted the ongoing efforts and commitments necessary to enhance the navigability and economic viability of the IWT sector. Given the crucial importance of adequate fairway maintenance, securing sufficient dredging works isn't just a matter of improving the waterway but ensuring the very economic viability of the sector. Pro Danube highlighted that well-maintained waterways are the backbone of the IWT sector, facilitating the seamless and efficient movement of goods. Therefore, we offered our support in communicating the updates from the fairway managers to the IWT sector.
