This project is a study on the development of a technology and service oriented, energy-efficient intermodal port system as best practice business model for the deployment in existing Danube ports.The action addresses Priority Project Nr. 18 “Waterway axis Rhine/Meuse-Main-Danube” of the TEN-T network. The action has a general approach aiming at the development of an eco-efficient Danube engineering and operation port system, in line with the principles of the “Joint Statement on Guiding Principles for Development of Inland Navigation in the Danube River Basin” (ICPDR, Danube Commission, Sava Commission, 2008). The overall objective of the project is to turn the port of Giurgiu into the first “Green Danube Port” based on integrated energy-efficient concepts and comprehensive environmental measures for intermodal ports.
