The Serbian navigation lock Djerdap 2 (Iron Gate 2) will not be open to traffic from July 18, 2023, through July 17, 2024, due to an overhaul, announced the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure and the Port Authority of Prahovo. The entire transhipment of vessels, in its zone of competence, between rkm 858th to rkm 868th kilometer on the Danube will be taken over by the Romanian side of the Djerdap 2 navigation lock. The Djerdap 2 navigation lock is being overhauled in order to increase reliability and reduce the times of the raising and lowering cycles.
All participants in water traffic are warned to adapt their speed to the general navigation safety and to comply with the orders of the handlers of the navigation lock, the Navigation Safety Inspector, and the Port Authority of Prahovo – the announcement says.
