The First partner meeting of the EU Project HINT was hosted by the Port of Enns (Austria) on the 17th of April 2013. At the meeting, especially new partners had the opportunity to see and touch the results of the EU Project NELI (forerunner of the HINT Project) in the visitor centre of the Port of Enns.

One of the main topics addressed during the meeting was the need for harmonisation in the field of nautical education and training as well as the on-going public consultation of the European Commission (EC) on the Recognition and modernisation of professional qualifications in inland navigation.

Mr. Rob van Reem from STC Group (NL), the Secretary of the EDINNA Network (Network of Nautical Education and Training Organisations) took part as a guest speaker at the meeting. He provided an expert insight into the on-going activities in the field of standardisation of professional qualifications in inland navigation. Partners agreed to support the above mentioned initiative of the European Commission by providing national translations of the English Questionnaire provided by the EC, so that in this way also the wider public could take part in the EC public consultation.

The workshop related to the possible scenarios for information and training centres as well as job opportunities in inland navigation sector in the Danube countries took place on the exhibition vessel of Via Donau, Ms. Negrelli.
